I’m Sick! Now What?
Sometimes immune support is just not enough! Especially combined with the holiday
season stress and lack of sleep. Here are 5 suggestions to make your life a little easier
when you are sick.
-
IV Therapy – Get an immune boosting IV ASAP! As soon as you feel symptoms,
call us! We can fill you up with vitamin C, Zinc and other support nutrients to get
your immune system functioning in high gear. As mentioned in a previous post,
high dose vitamin C and zinc can cause digestive side effects, IV therapy
bypasses the digestive system to get you the nutrients you need.
-
Steam inhalation – this is one of my favourites! Boil some water and pour it into
a large bowl. Add 3-4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Sit hovering above the
bowl with a large towel or blanket covering your head for a minimum of 10
minutes. This will help to break up mucus in your sinuses and chest.
-
Sleep – sleep deprivation has been shown to decrease immune cells. This
decreases the bodies resources to respond to an infection. It is important to get
7-8 hours of sleep per night when you are fighting something.
*Tips – make sure your room is void of light and clutter. Make sure to dim lights1-2 hours before bed and do not use technology with a backlight. (If you must,
make sure the brightness is turned down)
-
Stop It Cold – this botanical spray is another one of my favourites! Nothing gets
rid of a sore throat like it. Make sure to have on hand an use at the first sigh of
symptoms. HOA Patients – we have had this on sale for cold and flu season just for
you!
-
Mushrooms – Beta glucans are the immune supporting compounds that define a
mushroom as medicinal. My favourite is a product called Immune Builder. When you
are feeling sick you can double your maintenance dose to shorten the duration of
colds and flus.
As always – consult with your health care provider before you initiate any of these
recommendations to make sure they are right for you.
