These days, everyone watches TV! In all transparency, I too enjoy binge-watching a good
series from time to time!
As the daylight fades early and the nights get longer, it’s easy to give in to watching TV
instead of being outdoors.
While watching TV isn’t dangerous itself, it does take away from physical activity, social
interaction, and can disrupt your sleep! In fact, the blue light that is emitted from screens
(TV, phone, tablets) affects the amount of melatonin that your brain natural makes every
night…keeping you from getting those restful zzz’s!
This TV day, I challenge you to go without your TV indulgence for one day.
Try going for an evening walk under the street lights, calling a friend to reconnect, or
cuddle up and read a book. You might be surprised how much better you sleep with
less blue light exposure from the screen!
Bonus tip: Did you know they make blue light blocking glasses to reduce your exposure
in the evening and improve sleep quality?
